About Us

Picture
Owl’s Nest Publishers opened its doors on January 30, 2022. Our mission from the beginning has been to publish high quality and timeless books for teen and middle grade readers ages 8-18. Owl’s Nest Publishers seeks to be an industry leader in adolescent literature, and we believe that as more parents, educators, and (most importantly!) young readers discover our books, this goal will be accomplished.

All Owl’s Nest Publishers books are good, true, and beautiful reflections of the adolescent experience. This means that our books embrace the important, authentic, and imaginative adolescent experience through the lenses of story, poetry, and annotated classics—without shying away from hard topics when and where necessary, and in age-appropriate ways. You may find spiritual themes or religiosity in some Owl’s Nest books, but we do not publish message-forward fiction; all of our books will be story first and seek to serve our adolescent readers.

Owl’s Nest books come in a wide range of genres from contemporary to fantasy to poetry to annotated classics, but all our titles bring together great storytelling and beautiful cover art to give young readers (and the adults who love them!) a selection of books to confidently read and recommend to others.

We are a small, traditional press, a women-owned company, and our lifelong love of reading spurs us to excellence in all that we do. We believe that reading great books and good stories builds empathy, resilience, compassion, perseverance, and friendship.

Between the quiet pages of a book, the young see the world, hear the world, and grow wise. This is the Owl’s Nest, come in and read!

Why An Owl?

Picture
McClure the Owl is our logo and company mascot. He's named after the building which housed the original Owl's Nest—a small library in an upper room where founder Karin spent time as an adolescent with summer friends.

We chose an owl for our mascot not only because of this personal connection to the Owl's Nest, but also because owls are clever, thoughtful, wise, smart, and definitely bookish—All things you'll find embodied in our stories!

Keep an eye out for McClure, he'll be around!
